Food Policy / Booking Terms & Conditions

These policies applies to both our in-person and virtual classes

Food Policy
At Golden Palms Cookery School we take health and hygiene seriously for your safety and ours. You will follow all of our hygiene and safety procedures. We recommend that you wear practical clothing, including shoes that cover your toes, a minimal amount of jewellery and hair tied back where necessary.

You will arrive 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled start time of your lesson.

You may be refused admission if we suspect that you are under the influence of alcohol or any other substance, are ill with a communicable disease or that you are engaging in inappropriate behaviour.

During your lesson, you will follow all our instructions for the preparation, cooking of meals, transportation, storage, heating and consumption.

You release us from all claims, damages and causes of action or liabilities which may arise as a result of your preparation, storage and consumption of food taken home from your lessons, except if solely due to our negligence.

Without exception, you will indemnify and hold us and our employees harmless from all responsibility for any loss of personal property whilst at the school, or for any injuries or damages you sustain or, or that anyone affiliated with or connected with you in any way may sustain, in connection with or resulting directly or indirectly from your preparation of our food, save where such injuries or damages arise as a result of our negligence; and our liability to you shall not exceed the total price charged for any sessions/classes booked.

Nothing in these terms and conditions excludes our liability to you for personal injury or death caused by our negligence.

Only children aged 8 years old to 17 years old may attend our Children’s Classes accompanied by an appropriate adult. They must be able to reach and work unassisted (without the use of a stool, prop or and other object to raise the child) at the height of a standard kitchen surface (900mm) to participate.

In order to avoid disappointment please check the height of your child to ensure they meet the above criteria.  An adult must supervise the children throughout and assist the child during the cookery lessons if required.

Those aged 15 – 17 years are able to attend an adult lesson but must be accompanied by an appropriate adult at all times. Proof of age will be required for all that attend our adult lessons.

Prices
The prices displayed on our website are correct to the best of our knowledge and maintained on a regular basis. In the event of an order being placed against an accidental incorrect price, we will endeavour to inform you of the error within 2 working days of the purchase being made. If the correct price was more than you paid, you may either cancel the booking or choose to pay the difference. If the correct price was less than you paid, we will refund the difference.

Availability
All classes are subject to availability and booked on a first come first served basis. In order to allow flexibility with dates and to avoid disappointment. For in-person classes, we recommend you do not organise travel or accommodation until the booking has been confirmed.

We reserve the right to postpone or reschedule an in-person course up to three days before it is scheduled to take place in the unlikely event that there are less than 7 attendees booked.

Event Duration
Details of event duration given on the website and elsewhere are a guide only. Classes are planned based on the times specified but naturally there may be delays, curtailments or breakdowns that are not within our control. You agree that we shall not be held liable for variations in event time and duration.

Amendments to Bookings
Once you have booked onto a class you are required to give us 3 working days [Monday – Friday] notice to change your booking (either to transfer to another class or change the date) so please ensure you are available at the time of booking.

If you cancel, change/postpone a booking with less than 3 working  days’ [Monday – Friday] notice then we regret that your booking fees or voucher will be forfeited. Alternatively, you are welcome to send someone else in your place.

For those who are attending in-person classes who become iIl at short notice is also covered by the ‘amendment of booking clause. However, You will not attend if you have been ill or become ill in the 24 hours before your session with any diseases e.g. colds, flu; diarrhoea, vomiting; and other infections.

This is to protect all our customers as these sorts of illnesses can be spread through food. In the event that you are unwell, we ask that you notify us and send someone else in your place. The participants who are not ill will still be expected to attend.

You will be unable to attend the class under such circumstances, and it is a criminal offence to knowingly risk transferring diseases to others.  Please seek guidance from your insurance provider for any financial loss as a result of your cancellation or change of date.

Rescheduling of classes
In the unlikely event we need to reschedule a class for you for any reason, you will be offered alternative dates.  Classes will not be refunded and you must seek compensation from your insurance company. In such an event, we will not be liable for the cost of travel expenses, pre-booked accommodation costs or any other indirect costs incurred.

Booking Liability
By making a booking or purchasing or redeeming a cookery gift voucher, you acknowledge that our classes are dependent on certain factors beyond our control, and you agree that we shall not be liable for the cancellation, postponement or alteration of any class for reasons beyond our reasonable control, including weather-related reasons, mechanical failure, location changes or otherwise. 

Other than stated below, our maximum liability for any claim whatsoever in connection with a voucher or any cookery class booking shall be limited to the price paid for the voucher or booking.

Classes / Service Description
We have tried to ensure that the descriptions and images used on all marketing material are accurate. However, images are intended to give a general idea of the classes described and do not form any contract between you and us. Nothing in this document limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence, or for any damage or liability incurred by you as a result of fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation by us.

Refunds
You have the right to a refund of any goods and services within 3 working days [Monday – Friday] of purchase, on condition that goods are in their original packaging and unused.  If you have booked a specific class you have the right to cancel within 3 working days [Monday – Friday] of purchase.  If you have purchased a voucher that was dispatched to you we will only refund the voucher value – not the cost of the voucher and postage.

Allergy, food intolerance and dietary requirements
Once your booking has been confirmed, within 24 hours you must inform us of any allergies or food intolerance, and any dietary requirements.  If you do not, we cannot guarantee that the ingredients will be available or the recipes adapted to meet your requirements.  If you have not informed us of an allergy or food intolerance and you suffer an allergic reaction, we are not liable.

Competition Prizes, Special Offers and Promotional Vouchers
Vouchers acquired as part of a promotion or competition cannot be exchanged, extended or refunded.

Data Protection
You acknowledge and agree that details of your name, address, email address and telephone numbers will be recorded on our internal database in order that we can communicate with you regarding your order and booking of cookery class and subsequent news updates and marketing purposes.

For your information, details of any payments you make or card details are not recorded on our website and at the point at which you make a payment, you are redirected to the website of the financial service provider stripe or paypal. Full details of our policy with respect to personal data are available in our privacy policy.

Publicity / PR
You may be photographed and/or filmed during your lesson and Golden Palms Cookery School Ltd and their group companies may use your name and any photographs and/or recordings featuring you, and may cut, edit and adapt the same as necessary, for use in cookery schools, our cafe/restaurants and on The Golden Palms Cookery School website, for promotional uses, by means of any and all media, worldwide and in perpetuity.
